Getting a full-body massage should be a super relaxing experience that makes you feel great both physically and mentally. But if you've never had one, it’s totally normal to feel a bit unsure about what to expect. If it's your first time, you probably have a bunch of questions, and that’s OK! Chances are, someone else has asked the same things.
One of most common questions is about how much to undress. The short answer is: It's completely up to you! In fact, this question is so often asked, I've included a separate article on just that. For now, let's start with a few of the most common concerns people have when thinking about getting their first massage:
Remember that we are ALL incredibly self conscious about exposing parts of our bodies to others - I mean, come on - we're not all supermodels over here!
Concern #1: Am I too hairy? Answer: NO - there is no need to shave before your massage.
Concern #2: I have cellulite. Answer: Your therapist does not give one flip about that.
Concern #3: I'm nervous about my feet. Does she mind touching them? Answer: Nope! Everybody's feet are a little weird and professional therapists don't give it a second thought. If you would rather not have your feet touched, please let your therapist know, or you can leave your socks on - we understand that means "leave my feet alone".
Concern #4: What if I fall asleep and start snoring or drooling? Answer: You would NOT be the first one, I promise. But we truly don't care - this is your time to take whatever you need from the session.
